I was looking on the EAA website for an unrelated item, and saw in the News Section that EAA President Rod Hightower resigned his position on Oct 22. It says that the family did not want to move to Oshkosh because of kids in the St. Louis School System. Does anyone know if there is more to this story?

Sounds odd to me.
Before you even apply for or take a job you run that past the wife/kids.
It's not like the military where you HAVE to go...

Sounds like a bit of clumsy PR "spin"....no make that VERY clumsy PR spin.
The EAA must think its members and the aviation community are awfully stupid.
Not a good move for a "member owned" organization.

Anybody who has been an EAA member for the past two years knows that there is more to the story, which has been all over aviation news sites since the story broke that Monday afternoon. Go have a look back through AvWeb and Aero News.

The long and short of it is, the membership spoke up and the board listened and acted upon those concerns. Jack Pelton is serving as the interim president and has been elected by the board of directors to serve as chairman of the board for three years. There is no immediate rush to find a permanent CEO.
