Not exactly a warbird scene, but one of the most thrilling/frightning scenes for me is in I believe The Howard Hughes film 'Hells angels " Its the scene where the Dirigible explodes in midair and comes crashing down around the two main characters,Flames and junk raining down.WOW! Also the flying scenes in "Thirty seconds over Tokyo"
are top notch.A movie that used to play often when I was a kid but hasnt played in quite a while is "Battle Hymn" starring Rock Hudson ,Its the Story of
a gentleman named Dean Hess and his combat experiences in korea flying Mustangs. It has some great flying scenes, the story is so-so.Also theres been alot of posts mentioning the film "Always".While its got some good flying in it,The overall film is only so-so and pales in comparison to the film that it is based on.That film is "A guy named Joe" starring Spencer Tracy and Van Johnson..Its flying scenes arent the best nor are they very numerous but the story is just great. Its just a really good film with great acting and a far fetched but enjoyable story.Steven Spielburg made a noble attempt to capture the spirit with his film "Always"
but he came up short.Sometimes the majic cant be repeated no matter how hard you try. Spielburg says that "A guy named Joe" is his favorite flick and I recommend it to all.Tim
