Fantasy of Flight opens facility of treasures
Fantasy of Flight has opened the 20,000-square-foot Paul E. Garber Preservation, Restoration, and Storage Facility of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in Suitland, Md., to the public. Guests can visit the facility aboard an open-air trolley; among the aircraft on display are a Grumman Duck amphibian, a DeHavilland Vampire and a Sikorsky S-55 helicopter.

Boy, you really got that wrong. You need to go back and read that article. Fantasy of Flight has nothing to do with the Garber facility...

Umm............

This treasure trove of historical nuggets is Phase II of “Golden Hill,” a nod to Silver Hill, the nickname for The Paul E. Garber Preservation, Restoration, and Storage Facility of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum in Suitland, Md.

Okay, F for reading comprehension but A for bringing a much anticipated event to our attention. I look forward to the first photo gallery someone posts after a walk-through.

Funny, because you couldn't possibly have read it yourself if you posted this, or simply weren't pay attention.
Really, go back and read it.

Treasure trove unveiled at Fantasy of Flight
March 11, 2013 by General Aviation News Staff Leave a Comment
POLK CITY, Fla. — Everyone likes to go behind the scenes and get a glimpse of what happens “behind the curtain”… Now, at Fantasy of Flight, the curtains have been thrown open and guests can see what was previously off limits — an additional 20,000 square feet filled with more rare and vintage aircraft, aircraft parts and flight artifacts.

Well that's cool.

Kermit... Is opening his warehouse to the public.... The story has nothing to do with Garber or Silver Hill other than mentioning it...

Well, to be fair Silver Hill was mentioned in the article.

Sounds like a pretty cool place to turn on the drool spigot regardless.

Kermit actually has two "Golden Hill" hangars. When we visited FoF last summer, he only had one of them open to the public..here are a couple of pics.

Oh, and Golden Hill doesn't include his restoration shop, engine barn, and several other storage hangars. If he was ever to get everything he owns restored and on display, he'd need a facility the size of Udvar-Hazy.

Interesting aircraft here. Could someone provide a list.

Any photos or informaton on the Sopwith one-and-a-half strutter that has been listed in the collection? Was it seriously damaged in Hurricane Andrew?
