This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I have been wondering and it may have been asked here before but why cant the NASM simply tow their B-25 from it's storage building there at Dulles and place it on display at Udvar Hazy in as is condition? I seem to remember someone saying the plane is already in overall good shape.

At the time of her "retirement" I believe if I recall correctly

that N10564 was accurately restored to World War Two combat configuration

and worthy of a slot in a museum.
However, knowing the "Big Brother"(government) entity

she has sat outside for years

, I imagine that she more beautifully resembles Chapter Eleven

just with all the parts.
the decay will continue..

.....let us pray

I've asked the same question before. The plane (Carol Jean) flew in from the airshow circuit and I thought it was put in the "tin shed" and stored. Not sure why it has not made an appearance in the museum...

Well, while it was a really nice restoration by 1983 standards, thirty years later it's not the stellar restoration standard that we are used to seeing today. So if you put it on display, it would be a B-25 painted up in 1980's era warbird colors, not a 2013 quality restored B-25.
Just my observation, not a criticism of the owner (John Williams? Is that right?) It was one of my favorites as a kid.

So, display it "as is" until it can be restored properly...

I believe John got busted for flying too low over a stadium in the B-25 but I have no confirmation.
I flew in formation with him at an air show in Ohio. If there are any images of that I would appreciate a copy. Blue SNJ with 66 on side.

I'm not sure if they pulled his ticket but I think they might have. He buzzed Florida Field in Gainesville and freaked some people out. It might have been on the delivery flight to the museum.

It was the delivery flight to the museum and I think he did get a temporarily suspended license out of it, but sounds like it was worth it.

I think scared s-less is more like it, however I was not there so don't know for sure. I've noticed over the years that Gator fans are easily offended and quite sensitive so maybe you have a point. Go figure.
