Real life War Birding...(other war) GoPro

Mon Apr 29, 2013 9:21 am

In WW1 they're War Birds, like the famous book. And apologies to Jim H. for plagiarising his thread title-
Need to adjust the angles a little, but was playing with the new GoPro last week in Colorado:

I don't like the distortion at wide angles, so have been shooting at the "narrow" 90 degree setting, when I get more time I'll try some of the wider fields of view.

If you're in the Denver area on May 18th the Vintage Aero Flying Museum is having their annual fly-in/display that day, it's at Platte Valley Airport about 40 miles NE of Denver.

Just a reminder about the open house next weekend, for those in the Denver area.

Also, it's not a Mustang, or even a warbird, althought it surely taught some Spitfire pilots to fly, but I did some more playing with the GoPro yesterday

And was back in Colorado last week, the Open House at VAFM was a big success, and tried some still shots at the medium field of view (127 degrees I think it is)

Mounted on a long 1/4" bolt up front

And on a custom mount on the tail

I did some rolls, but had the camera set to shoot every 10 seconds, and managed to do all the rolls between those intervals, so didn't get any inverted stuff. Next time I'll try 5 seconds.

Jim H. if you're watching we're hoping to bring the Fokker to Fort Collins when you guys are there in July. Too bad the '262 isn't listed as coming, it would look neat parked next to the Fokker-

That's a neat shot from the front. Can't wait to see more.

So far have only used the stock roll bar mount, and the tripod mount bolted to various tabs on my TCraft or the Fokker. And the head mount...

It's a Hero 2, so not the latest and greatest, but works pretty good.

Will have to look up the NFlight mounts-

I use the Hero 2's as well with a bag full of mounts. My guess you use the tripod mount and the 1/4" bolt for the head on shots??
