Can somebody tell me what the pipe is for? Fuel dump?

Windshield cracked.. canopy unlocked.. access panel hanging open.. flight controls all over the place.... definately not a well looked after bird... :oops:

I think that external pipe may have been for smoke system.
My best guess?

Maybe if we knew the serial number we could figure out it's last duty station. Might have been used as a chase plane at Edwards. Would be an ignominious end to one of the Thunderbirds, that's for sure!

I think the T-Bird smoke system was similar but exited just above the tailpipe.
The fitting on the end looks jury-rigged...wonder if the rest was removed when they pulled the engine?

Better that than the scrappers around D-M. Or a one-way ride to the Goldwater range.
