What I find disturbing about that photo is the position of the elevator. Something was definitely not right with the situation.

It's disturbing for sure, but more disturbing that it got into that position in the first place. That WOULD be the correct input if it was preceded by an inverted stall.

That photo was taken just after the airplane started its roll out of the inverted position (bailing out?).

The position of the elevator and rudder are indicative of the pilot trying to get upright.

As far as an end to wing walking, there was a father-daughter duo in the 90s that had a act, they were both killed when their Stearman crashed at low level. So we have at least two fatalities of wing walkers who died not while doing what we think is dangerous, but because of an aircraft crash.

IIRC, was there another walker killed a couple of years ago? I seem to recall someone being killed during an inverted pass...

Will it be an end to wing walking? I've enjoyed watching it at airshows, but I'm not sure if people should risk it anymore.....

Should we consider this a wing walking accident? Or is it really a low level aerobatics accident?

Perhaps arguments could be made both ways, especially if the drag from a wing walker makes the control of aircraft more difficult. Regardless, I'm just not a big fan of low level aerobatics.

The article states that the NTSB will still be issuing a report on the accident, so I guess this seems odd to me. I'm sure there are folks here who are better informed, than I am, so maybe this is standard.

My dad was an Ohio State Highway Patrolman. Yes in Ohio the State Patrol have jurisdiction over aircraft incidents. They support the NTSB and other agencies.
Let's give the Troopers a little respect folks.

No disrespect intended. I'd not seen a SHP accident report on an air incident before, so I was just asking for clarification. I think if you reread the post you quoted, you'll see what I meant.

I do a fair bit of work with the SHP on various things, including shooting some air-to-ground stuff recently from one of their helicopters. I really didn't intend any disrespect.
