My old boss Wg Cdr Bill Townsend with the Mossies at Williamtown. Rose to Air Vice Marshall with nick-name of "Kodak Bill".....loved his picture being taken. He flew A-20 Bostons in New Guinea as well...[his son and I went through officer training school together!]

Possibly a fin-mounted antennae?

AFAIK the antennae for the Oboe and Serrate radars were mounted in the nose, with their antennae in the outer wings and nose, but I'm not sure.

My best guess I'm afraid.
