This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

When was the last time he bought a complete aircraft though? I feel like everything he has acquired recently has been a restoration project that he has had restored.
I hope whoever ends up with the aircraft shares it with the public and flies the heck out of it. A fantastic restoration like this deserves a good home!

Ditto! Either FHC, or a group like Collings. Then the Collings Foundation would turn around and sell the very special Dick Foote three seater FM-2 to someone like American Airpower or someone like that, who would operate the aircraft as it appears today. No modifications.

Absolutely awesome post! Great looking FM-2. Would you be able to post any pages from the FM-2 Erection and Maintenance manual or the Parts Catalog showing details of the .50 cal gun installation? I presume there were blast tubes in the wings. Was there a smooth barrel jacket on the guns as well, similar to the jackets on the F6F guns (inboard and middle)? I don't think the outboard gun on the F6F had a jacket, so maybe the jackets were only used if the guns extended from the wing edges. Thanks.

On the off chance of bringing an old thread back to life: I absolutely love this thread. I'm currently in the process of recreating an exact digital replica of the FM-2, so the information and pictures in this thread are absolutely awesome.
My reason for posting though is, in one of the first post there was a mention of microfilm being digitized to CD. I have a couple of sets of drawings for the plane, but there's a lot of crucial ones missing, or barely readable.
So I was hoping that maybe your collection might fill some of those gaps.
Thanks!
