This was going to be displayed in a proposed museum location in Carson City, Nevada that never happened (The Nevada Museum of Military History http://nmomh.org). They are now in search of another location.

The 1944 Douglas A-26B Invader in the photograph above is representative of our A-26. The one we have is disassembled and has been in storage for more than 30 years. It is still in war time configuration. Many A-26s were modified and civilianized after the war. Also many were put back into service to fight in Korea and Viet Nam. We will restore this warbird to flying condition because it is a veteran. This aircraft served in England during the latter part of World War Two and flew many missions over Europe. We don't know its' complete history yet, but we will find out more about it as time progresses.

The aircraft is disassembled and in storage, but does still exist.

The wings are sitting outside at a small northern Nevada private airstrip, but the fuselage is in a container at another location.

Invader 41-39486 Wings and Engines in Northern Nevada

Scott, feel free to use these if you like. Photographed on 29 November 2013.

I was told that one of the previous owners owned this Invader and another, but took off drunk one night, stalled and killed himself in the other. The present owner bought it from the estate and it has not flown since.

If anyone has any info on the crash of the other aircraft and who the owner was, that would be interesting to know. Also, if anyone knows the definitive service history of this one, the museum would probably like to have that info.
