War Memorial Registry Project

Sat Dec 28, 2013 9:19 am

For the last few years I have had an idea floating around about war memorials. We drive past them everyday and often don't even see them as we go about our lives. Sometimes its as simple as a dedication plaque, a wall with a list of names, a weird artillery piece or even an aircraft or armored vehicle. I bet most of you don't even know a single name on these plaques unless you are a family member or close friend. These men and women gave there lives to serve their respective countries and I think we need to honor and more importantly, remember that.

So, today (December 28th, 2013) the War Memorial registry is born. We will start with this page and a mandate. Go out, photograph the memorials you encounter in your community. E-mail me the pictures and the location of the memorials you photograph. When I start getting sufficient images and information I will start assembling the site. This is a long term project, as those of those who are familiar with the Warbirds Resource Group, that is nothing new for us. But with your help, in a few years we will have something to be proud of.

This registry will be open to ALL Nationalities and Military services involving memorials from ANY era or conflict. If there is a memorial for it then it will find a place there. So if you have an image(s) and information of a memorial in your part of the world, please send it to
