Something resembling Band of Brothers about the 56th FG. Could be called "Wolfpack" or something similar.
I wouldn't mind seeing "The Airmen and the Headhunters" turned into a movie. Pretty interesting book, for those who haven't read it. Some sort of adaptation about O-2 FACs based on "Naked in Da Nang" would be interesting, and could probably be done completely with real aircraft.

'100 feet above hell' is one that wouldn't break the bank. I can't imagine how brave those guys were in FAC and they would go looking for action flying low to attract fire.
On another note, does any one know what will happen to the Remaining QF4's now that the QF16 is coming on line? Will the USAF retain any for heritage flight in the coming years? Probably doesn't make economical sense to keep a redundant type active.

I think a movie about Black Jack would be interesting, sounds like that bird came back with lots of stories, that or one based on the book A Higher Call would be fascinating

Ditto. Those two novels are almost screenplays already (and of course Martin Caidin was no stranger to onscreen versions of his writings). Col. Goodman in "Whip" is pretty much John Goodman; Caidin even nailed the surname! And actually I'm quite sure one of the books has "in development as a motion picture" on the dust jacket of my copy...
Three more ideas: Spencer Dunmore's "Ace", which is a kind of World War II "The Blue Max" and, much like the Caidin books, reads like a screenplay already; the story of the Soviet female fighter regiments (with loads of recently-built, non-CGI Yaks and Fw190s); and the saga of the 1949 National Air Races (which I have partially cast and storyboarded in my head, and for which, natch, it would be necessary to build a new F2G Race 94 and a new Mustang "Beguine", to taxiable state at least)...

It was described as the finest piece of flying in the whole of WW2, so I'd like to see a film about the Coup de Main assualt of the Orne canal and river bridges during opening minutes of D-day. The story of the training is as interesting as the the operation.

HECK YES. I first read that book a couple of years ago and I still think it'd make a great film, but it'd have to take place in the 1970s...
Wow - all this time I thought I was the only one who'd ever read that book! It would be a really fun film, no question!

Ditto on "Higher Call". I understand the Angelina Jolie is already working on "Unbroken" - I hope that stays true to the book.
I personally would like to see "Above and Beyond" redone properly. Wendover is already being slowly preserved and the Marine Corps is clearing the runways on Tinian so there would be plenty of actual loacles to film at! (of courseit might be because of the museum I work with in Wendover
)

A start to finish, biographical movie on Greg Boyington.
Bernt Balchen would be another colorful character that has alot of famous history to work with.
The PN9E and Duck Hunt would be a good one too.

Speaking of which, I was just in Chicago over the weekend to visit the Museum of Science and Industry. The U-505 exhibit is absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! Definitely stop and see it if you are in the area.
