This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I heard from a corporate pilot today that the CAF B-29 and B-24 squadron has been kicked out of the hangar at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison and would be moving their operations over to the Vintage Flying Museum at Meacham airport in Fort Worth. I was told they had not been very good tenants at the Cavanaugh museum for a while but the big reason was so that Cavanaugh could store some of their bigger airplanes inside. This has got to be a big set back for the CAF on top of the big move they are supposed to be making. It doesn't sound like that is working out as well as they had hoped it would.
I was also told that one of the new engines on FiFi started making metal and had to be sent back for repair. The need to pull that new engine off and put the old one back on has made them late for getting the B-29 on the tour but they are apparently on the way to Florida now.

There is always a big ass empty hangar in Midland they could move into.

Things are better. Someday the story may be told.

It's always fun to see how quick someone will hear something from someone who's brother in law... Anytime your post starts with " I heard from someone else" you ought to stop and think about what you are getting ready to post.
Fact is: There is no rift between CFM and CAF. They are NOT being "Kicked out". We are in a situation where we need some of our space back. We are getting another large plane and don't have anywhere to put it. The Caribou has had to sit outside lately, as have a couple of other planes. The B29/B24 have been great and we are happy to have had them. For many reasons, I approached the squadron staff and luckily they seem to have found a place already. They can still use the offices and storage space until they find a permanent home. We still plan to continue our relationship with the CAF and the B29/B24 Squadron.

Thx Doug, I'm very happy someone with a level head that actually knows something came along and straightened this up. I was thinking this wasn't true as the warbird world is far too small for this type of nonsense to occur, or at least hopefully not to occur. I would kindly suggest one getting their facts straight before posting as well. Rumors have no place here IMO. (especially these types of rumors)

Notice this is the sole post from a brand-new WIX member, who presumably joined under this ID just to post the inflammatory message.
I have to admit that I enjoy reading some rumors (like secret underground factories full of pristine Me 262s)!

Pigtown in Germany.Caen barracks had an underground 262 base.In 1980 it was full of water and all the stuff in it was junk. They handed out article 15s like candy at Christmas to anyone caught trying to get into the tunnels.

I personally would like to thank Jim Cavanaugh for all he has done for our squadron. Yes he gave us a home for both airplanes for the last few years but it is very important not to forget that he is the one that made it possible to get "FIFI" back in the air. If it had not been for his checkbook we might very well still be grounded. He stepped up with cash when nobody else did. And for that, the CAF, our squadron and all of us that love "FIFI" are in his debt.
Mr. Cavanaugh, Doug and all the volunteers and employees of the museum have bent over backwards to keep us happy over the years and we are very thankful for that. The simple fact is that they need more space for their airplanes. We have another place to move our airplanes and life will go on for all of us. I believe the relationship between the two organizations is far from over.
All this is purely my opinion and not necessarily that of the CAF, B-29/B-24 squadron, staff members or the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, so nobody get mad at me about it!

So shall I be the first to ask?
