Wow, what a find, and thanks for sharing. I too hope one day they can raise the aircraft. Certainly looks like a very good candidate for a restoration.

Awesome find. But wait… there were casualties on board? And they still hope to raise her? Well… I know some people here may disagree but I like that idea. I know some camps (especially the NAVY) poo poo the idea but I've always thought it was better to recover the MIA and give them a proper burial. Then use the plane, ship, etc. for the greatest good.

Namely for aircraft preservation. Whether that means in "as is" condition or total restoration back to airworthyness is a case by case matter.

The level of preservation is unbelievable. I especially like the guy holding the machine gun magazine. In any other western country the bomb squad would have been called in.

"Nazi plane"! What's that ? I knew about the German Air force or the Luftwaffe but, thanks to the Dailymail, i now know that the National Socialist party had its own air force !!!

The divers made the discovery while searching for a different plane.
Instead of finding the Ju88 they were expecting, they found a Ju52 'Iron Annie', a type used extensively as a transporter aircraft by the Luftwaffe during the war.

Hope they find the Ju88; if it's in the same shape as this plane it would be a real score.
