F-86's ...

Tue Apr 29, 2014 10:38 am

Per request (I believe someone around here just may become a driver of one of these things soon, who knows )
Sources: All U.S. Air force photos unless stated otherwise, SDASM archives, NMUSAF museum archives, my own stuff. And if I state nothing below a particular photo it's because I haven't the foggiest idea about what, where, when, who, how, why etc., other than it's an F-86 hopefully.

Part 1

This first F-86 is quite a beautiful scheme IMHO and would be nice to see at an airshow near you. Hint for anyone listening perhaps?

Interesting photo as it looks to be a mock-up F-86 in the background.

Part 4

Take your pick!

ANG Conference, Ellington AFB, 1960 (can't quite make that out in the upper right, kind of looks like a balloon of some sort?)

Great post Mark and that first Sabre is an absolute stunner, IMHO. I would love to see a restored bird in those colors instead of another one with big, yellow stripes!

Pretty sure that is a light fixture mounted to the edge of the roof that the photographer is standing on!

In Part 1, there is a picture from Edwards AFB. do you or anyone know if the nose of the plane is WHITE or YELLOW?

Your welcome fellas. Chad my eyes are shot!!! how I could think that was some sort of balloon in the distance as opposed to a light on the side of the building? I should turn in both my pilots and drivers licenses. lol

Jim I would take a guess and say yellow.

BTW if anyone's interested, my photobucket account is now officially 1/2 full (or 1/2 empty) so you can go back and calculate how long I have been posting photo threads and that should be able to tell you how long I'll continue to harass you from here on out.

The second picture, F-86's in flight, and the Ellington picture I'm going to try and get hard copies to post on the wall of my office. 8) 8)

Speaking of the Ellington picture, those are Fury's near the camera, one F-89, B-57's, F-84Fs, and C-97, and C-54's. And maybe a few more.

Fred Ascani was my late father-in-law's CO in WW2 815th BS, 483rd BG on B-17's. Ed told me Fred didn't hit it off with the boys as he was a "West Pointer" and stickler for parade stuff!
