Great shots everyone, thanks for posting.

Bill, I really cracked up with that picture of Ollie that you titled "Harphoon". I love it

Nathan, you can never thank all the volunteers enough! No way this could happen without 'em. Thanks folks :supz: :supz: :supz:

I can also add a couple of points to your comments/ questions. The airshow starts at 10:00 AM. That means pilots have to be in the briefing at 09:00.
If you arrive around that time frame you are not going to see much flying. If you're not in the briefing, you're not flying in the show.

As far as the Liason/ training types. This is usually a group of pilots who have flown together either very little, or more likely, not at all.
You get about twenty minutes, to co-ordinate with a bunch of folks you don't know. Not much choice but to keep it straight and level and follow the leader.
Plus you're usually first to go, so time is pretty tight.

The group of guys who bring their Stearmans, is based on a pretty good core, who have been coming for a number of years. They came up with the idea, a few years ago, to make every turn a wing over and it really makes for a fantastic and dynamic display. They've done it for a number of years and just keep getting better.

I've been coming to this show since the eighties and have been everything from a spectator to a volunteer to crew to pilot. When you are involved in the show, it's a long day. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but man, I get tired after all day in the sun. Personally my favourite is the Friday. You can fly all day, get the chance to hop a few rides. It's even less formal than show day but stuff is flying all day. Plus you get the chance at some unique photo opportunities like we did with our Tiger.

Finally, to agree with Ollie (who I finally met BTW) cost is a huge factor. Sadly, the days of the "Eight four engined bombers" is a thing of the past.

One last thing Nathan. Did you get any pics? Put 'em up!

Andy

Andy, we've been calling it the Harphoon ever since we put those markings on.

I'm just blown away with the shots taken by some of our members. I'll have a chance to put up some of really really bad shots from my camera phone tomorrow. Until then, Id better see all the photogs (especially Bill  ) put up more amazing shots!

For those of you who bugged out before Sunday, my family and I returned to the field at about 1:00pm Sunday afternoon. There was some rain in the morning, and they did their best to get some planes in the air. We saw a demo by the Antinov, then a nice demo by Never Miss. The C-47s took off, did some passes, and were recovered during heavy rain. By around 4:30 it cleared up and we got a surprise visit by the L-39. Never Miss and the Canadian C-47 departed Sunday. I think mine was the last car on the field at 6:00pm. Driving home from Niagra Monday at about 6:00pm, I saw a couple of fast movers cross I-90 near Batavia heading in a NW direction....it looked like a Mustang and something else. See you next year!

Andy, it was great meeting up with you this past weekend! But I hold out hope that everything is cyclical and the "Golden Age" can happen again. I've got to believe it will come back.

Hey Scott! Glad to see you on WIX! And glad to have had a chance to hang out underneath Charlie's Avenger. His dogs were real sweethearts.

Another great show at Geneseo. It was well executed with no down time between acts. It moved along nicely. Like last year it seems that the NWM understands that we are there to see the warbirds, and they make the effort to put them up more than once. After seeing the Mossie fly on Saturday, I was not expecting it to go up again with the P-38 no less, later in the show! It was good to see a lot more of the "unlisted" participants this year (T-6's (7), Stearman, L-birds, classics) and while they didn't all fly in the show, they filled in the static area for them nicely. The flying was spot on and very pleasing to the crowd and photogs. Good job.

The weather was a problem on Sunday, but was NOT a total washout as my colleague PatM stated. They did get some acts up. Unfortunately the weather did scare off a lot of planes Saturday night with the mass exodus. The was the biggest disappointment, as like Friday, Saturday is the best time to walk around after a great show and talk to the pilots. While parking looked like a ghost town there was some great flying. About steak dinner time just about all the warbirds except the Mossie went up for a photo shoot. Also the comings and goings of a Stearman and T-6 was punctuated by the arrival of the L-39 at around 8pm. He made some low passes and even did a touch and go! An L-39 on the grass at Geneseo again!

While this show tied last year, and NWM is to be commended for getting the P-38 and Mossie to come, the fact is that the "prime" warbird numbers have been steadily dropping at Geneseo. I'm hoping this was related to the expense of W7's trip this year. I'm not expecting Geneseo 1988, but all I have to do is look back at my video from '05 thru '09 and those years saw a lot of warbirds. Not to mention over a dozen T-6's when you included the Canadian Harvard Association. Those years we saw 2 B-17s, 4 B-25's, multiple types of fighters and more than one of each type occasionally. I hope to see a return to this type of line up.

The only thing about this show that I can think of that disappointed me:
1. While the T-6 numbers were up from last year, unfortunately there was no formation flying in the set like last year.
2. Andrew McKenna in his Mustang was a no show. I was looking forward to seeing his act with the L-39 Vandy 1.
3. The 2 B-25 scrubs. (CWH and GG). I'm glad Tom Duffy returned this year though.

My suggestions for 2015 to the NWM:

Please keep up with reaching out to different warbird owners/orgs to book aircraft we've never seen before to keep things fresh and exciting at Geneseo.
More "Pacific" aircraft for that set.

Pete
