Jim....first is thank you for all the amazing pics you gave to the community.......REALLY..........appreciated....

I wanted to ask this to the REAL flyers on this board.

And I am not counting all the great stories behind what you gave us.....(tks again)

Can I ask a personnal stupid question......?????

I am just curious if any pics you are taking could distract you while you fly!!! Just thinking about it.....

Even with all the modern technology in your hands!!!!! AKA a selfy gone wrong.

I know you are a Professional.....but I just wanted to ask.

The reason I am asking is I lost a close friend of mine in car racing while doing just that.

I have seen a lot of great warbirds flyers gone west........hoping this may do a difference one day.

Plz just take care of yourself and keep on gracing your stories with us. :drink3: :drink3:

Sincerely.......Michel

P.S. keep your hands on the stick sir.

Take my point with a grain of salt as a ground bound bug......I would trade your job with with mine in a heartbeat....

Keep on posting...

Tks....Michel

Thanks for the kind words. I would say 90% of the photos I have posted are stills from GoPro video. The beauty of these cameras is to start them running and forget about them. They offer 0% distraction which is great for formation flying. I used to carry a small point and shoot but I broke it. That camera was great for just taking pics of clouds or landmarks, again point and shoot, no distraction. Now...with the quality of the iPhone 5s taking quick photos is stupid easy. Not to mention you can use it to navigate with Foreflight (airways) which neither the Garmin 530 or 430 illustrate. In order to do aerobatics you must be 4nm on either side of an airway. The iPhone is an invaluable tool for this. Warbirds have no room or forgiveness for a lack of situational awareness.

Great photos Jim. What kind of mount are you using with the GoPro on the outside of the P-51? I.E. the shot from the top of vertical stab and the belly shot of the gear swinging.
