A question for the WIX tail connoisseurs:

I would like to ask for your assistance in identifying the aircraft appearing on the right side of the pictures.

The images come from an Air Enthusiast article on the Philippine AF Mustangs, written by Leif Hellström (AE May / June 1998, No. 75; page 53) The tail number seems to be 534648. A quick Google search did not produce any results.

At first sight I thought it would be a Douglas A/B-26 Invader, but the shape of the tail is wrong. Then, I thought maybe Aero Commander, but I am not sure.

So, for those of you here well versed in tail.... your knowledgeable opinion is sought.

Thank you, and Saludos.

Tulio

Appears to be an Aero/Rockwell Commander. Couple of listings have the Philippine AF as having a -690.

Greetings, Tulio!

Scroll about halfway down for a pic of 534148. Appears to be the same bird.

Hiya, Dan!

Thank you for the link. Yes, it looks it was an Aero Commander. I was reading my old issues of Air Enthusiast, and like so many other times, aircraft in the background or not fully displayed, catch my eye and of course, generate questions.

Saludos, and stay warm!!!

Tulio
