Scott/FAS FG-1D Folks
While doing some digging at the Wix W/B Registry Buno 67087 list the following comments (among others):
"Used as spare airframe". Did it come back in a crate still showing its original paint/scheme?? Where does the comment source come from?? Who was the original owner of the pkg FG-1D?? Did it have any markings at all??
..and last but not least, anyone with pics of this famous restoration in the W/coast plz post. Tks in advance.

I think that must be a typo- should be Hayward, not Haywood.

Hi! Not sure about the spelling either! Did you happen to see an FG-1D at the Hayward area being restored with poss FAS markings?? Place name Chuck Wentworth of S. Calif. (Antique-Aero)?? Tks in advance.

Not sure I follow you...
You say there's a non FAS connection between these two airframes? 67087, and 67070?
Something missing in the puzzle...?

All I can add is that the photo of Buno 67087 was shot at Steve Picatti's facility at Hayward Airport, Calif. Oddly enough, it was only at Picatti's place for a few days, then it went into Camp's hangar.
At the time, Picatti's crew were restoring the F6F Hellcat for the Lone Star Flight Museum.
The Corsair was owned by Tom Camp and was subsequently sold to Javier Arengo (sp?) in Paso Robles, Calif.
IIRC correctly, that restoration has won a number of awards and is often flown by Chuck Wentworth.
Best,
Nick

Morning!
Tks for the info/data on Buno 67087. Perhaps Mr. Javier Arengo may have some pics of the restoration. I'm sure he does. Mr. T: Buno 67087 & Buno 67070 are both x FAS "gull grey" type scheme aircraft. We suspect 67087 to be the lost & elusive FAS 201 that ground-looped at El Paso, TX c. May 19757. Any other info plz post, Tks in advance again.
p.s Tguy: Is Mr. Picatti/Mr. Camp still around the area??

Sorry, never been to Hayward (or Haywood- I don't think there is such a place in California).
Chuck Wentworth is still around though.

FG- ID Folks:
Good Day!
Pictured below is FG-1D 67087 c. 1995 after restoration. S. Calif.
Pics of Buno 67087 are abundant but not of its restoration period. Does anyone remembers a center fuselage of an FG-1D on the L/corner of the above hangars w/some other Warbird (poss P-40) in the foreground? We suspect that pic is Buno 67087 while waiting/ in storage for a future restoration. c. 1990s. Tks in advance.
