Well, $2.4 million is $2.4 million any way you cut it I guess. 8) I really admire the Bearcat, but I'd take a lottery win in its place just as happily.

...Of course, I'd be hard pressed not to buy a Bearcat if I came into that kind of money all of a sudden!

I came across this article about the Lockheed 10 and it tells an interesting back story about the trade for the Super Corsair.

Who would have thought that this museum bound F2G would return to the air!?!?

Unfortunately the F2G didn't go anywhere. From the article the museum decided not to do the trade, which would have cost them nothing but the F2G (which they moved to Paine anyways), and instead purchased the Electra outright. Personally, I think the F2G will escape one day.

Ryan, thanks for clarifying. At first quick read I thought it went through but wondered why we had not heard of the Super Corsair nearing return to flight. I did remember seeing the fund raising for the Lockheed and a purchase being made. I still was shocked at how it might have been... That the F2G almost made it out of the collection. Made for an interesting read.

I think its safe to say that Ray Dieckman almost STOLE that Super Corsair as part of the proposed trade. :)
