I'm embarrassed Tim...I can't recall...he did a History Channel special about the Bulge and a cursory google search did not produce his name. I do have his card somewhere as he was in the process of finishing a new book about the bulge. It IS amazing to walk in the footsteps of history. It's one thing to read about it and see period pictures...but to walk or drive around these once embattled places is awe inspiring. When my Grandfather spoke of being in Europe (69th Inf) it seemed like a land far far away, even in the 1990's when he opened up about it. To walk the same ground he saw is incredible, and it's just a 12 hour plane ride now, to some of the most beautiful and peaceful countryside you can imagine. Today as it should be... It's exactly what they were fighting for...

La Gleize...the beautiful rolling countryside was Peiper's last stand. It is hard to imagine all the abandoned armor that was left in this region...except for the King Tiger in the middle of town.

In the BOTB Museum in La Gleize is Dick Winter's jacket...amongst hundreds of artifacts that were found in the immediate area.

The King Tiger, what a monster! Nice to see it wasn't scrapped. How many King Tigers are left in the world today?

Overall maybe a handful but from the fighting in the Ardennes only two
