SNJ-5 History...what is VN6D8 & VN9D8 @ Corry Field?

Thu Dec 25, 2014 10:16 pm

Merry Christmas! I'm researching an SNJ-5 and obtained its Record Card. It was delivered to Corry Field in August 1943 and remained there in September. After this there are abbreviations I have never seen before and cannot readily find with an internet search. From October-December 1943 it was assigned to VN6D8 followed by VN9D8 from January-May 1944.

Anyone know what those designations mean?
