I couldn't agree more about the paint job but the fact that any of the museum's aircraft has made progress towards flying again is exciting enough that I just don't care!

The scheme is actually not new as it was painted in this scheme as of two years ago. Airborne new, scheme not so much.

I dunno. Looks like she has at least been repainted to a more accurate scheme. The plane was either stripped to its original bare metal or given a more natural silver paint job. Either way, she looks better than before.

Somewhere on WIX I posted some photos of this P-51 in this scheme from a couple of years ago while I was in Palm Springs. There here somewhere. I stood right there and took them ... Unless I was dreaming ...

Is this the one that was Blue & Silver before ? I think Bob had/has 2 P-51s ?, Sorry old "work" habit to ask too many questions!

Yes this one used to be coded E2*S and had often debated blue wings. Bob other P-51 Moose is now Buzin Cousin and lives in Texas. At one point Bob owed 4 Mustangs and if Kermit L had not been killed in one of them, the plan was to buy and sell more Mustangs.
Mustangs that Bob owned are-
44-74908- the subject of this thread.
44-84753- Moose now Buzin Cousin.
44-74425- darn Yankee now in Europe
44-74600- Joanne II- The one Kermit and his step son were killed in. I spent 3 days in cow pasture in July helping clean this wreck up.

Great museum. Few things I noticed when visitng in 2013. One is Mr. Pond used to let people fly his planes and if you were the designated pilot, he put your name on it. Very sad to see the two place Hellcat, only one in the world, parked and not flown. Also hate to see the Spitfire not being flown, however they haven't had any losses or crashes either.
Some of the aircraft have those 1980's-90's "showy airshow" paint jobs, which are now mostly out of style.
