Have a 1959 Yale Six Wheel tug with a Chrysler L30 flathead six needs rebuilding. No manuals. Can anyone lead me to some or at least a hint on how the engine is removed? Hope I don't have to take the tranny out as well. Does the motor come free without as the main bellhousing mounts support the trans and all rearward. Not sure what forklift bits are like. Does the flywheel bolt to the crank in a conventional manner or is there a splined stub off the crank that plugs into the massive clutch/flywheel assy.
Thanks WIX brain. Also, looking for color pics of 1959 Air Force tugs.

If it's a clutch and torque converter setup, then engine and trans need to come out as an assembly. My Minneapolis Moline is built that way. Two speed transmission with the clutch hung on the back of the torque converter. You can stop the tug with it in gear and not stall it out with that setup.

Five speed manual so probably the same. Figured as much.

Thanks.

No color photos, but I'd say you have the color about right.
IIRC, the U.S. AIR FORCE and serial was done in 2" red letters (reflective tape material?).

I know it's obvious, but have you called your local Yale forklift dealer? We have a 30+ year old forklift at our shop and they've always had the info and parts we needed. Ditto with the even older Clark tugs I've got
