First is thank you for all the work done so far.......Let's not undervalue your amazing contribution to our knowledge, curiosity and education. So a gazillion tks from my standpoint. But moving on is a normal part of life. Let's deal with this basic fact.....hehe....

Second, please reconsider deleting your Photobucket account (or creating a new copy under a new name). I think forum activity is not related to cloud storage. This will still allow you to share with selected individuals or the ones that are curious enough to do the proper research.

Sincerely. :drink3:

Michel

Doubtful! :-?

So a few boneheaded posts aside. I'm very willing to figure out the best plan for saving all the photos I've posted here on WIX if it interests anyone. Those who know me will attest I'm a pretty generous guy so I'm happy to keep paying the photobucket account bills for as long as it takes for someone to figure out the best way to keep them here on WIX. If that's indeed what everyone wants to see happen then I'm happy to work it out. For those two of you who still think I'm counting the "please stay" posts, don't waste your time worrying about it. I'm already a past member so I'll state it again for the reading impaired. I'm only interested in figuring out the best plan to save the photos I've posted on WIX. Anyone have any constructive ideas I'll stick around to hear them. But don't waste my time, your time and everyone else's time banging your bash drum at me. What's done is done so let it go. You want to talk about saving photos? great lets figure it out, if you want to talk sh*t?, with all due respect ... take a hike!

Ideas anyone on the photos? I'm all ears ...

M

I think you maybe missing what he was trying to accomplish. I "think" he was requesting Mark set up a new account as a placeholder to put the pics.

Tony...that is how I read what he was requesting. If I'm wrong...apologies. It's actually not a bad idea to have a repository for all of Mark's photos. It could be placed as a sticky somewhere so everyone can find it easily. John

Why not make them (the photos) available as a WIX downloadable resource upon payment of a modest fee. All profits go to Scott as an income to keep WIX operating.

Just home from work, and thought about you a bit Mark. I always appreciate your support, and you have always looked out for me. I for one will be very hurt to see you leave. I was hoping to call you again sometime soon.

Hi Mark,
I did what you're contemplating doing and deleted my photobucket account because I got upset. I regret it now and am contemplating rebuilding that thread as I have all of the F86 photos still.
I know the thread your talking about that got you all riled up and to be honest, it was fine until you jumped in on a high horse. Contrary to what you think, that thread is not running off WIX members in droves.
If you feel you must go, well go. I hope the best for you, but I won't buy into begging you to stay.

"... it was fine until you jumped in on a high horse. "

I'm pretty new here, and that is my assessment, too.

I've had a trying few weeks and a just a day or so ago buried my father, I came to WIX for some light relief and was pretty much stunned by the over-the-top commentary. I've had 'run-ins' with a few of the folks in the relevant thread, but I learned long ago just to let things go, I've seen threads in some parts of the Internet where antagonists have been 'having-a-go' for years, no solutions, no advancement of ideas or position, just two or ore people wasting their lives -for Lord's sake, it is the Internet, not real life.

Sure my dander gets up at times, but I am adult enough and mature enough to eventually 'get' that I am not going to change a view or convert someone even if I tie the adversary up with piano wire and pull their fingernails out...so getting angry at a keyboard is pointless.

The easiest thing to do with a thread you don't like is ignore it, I was amused by Mark's criticising the existence of the thread then increases its post count, I have not been here long but Mark's contribution has been noted eve by me, so it would be a shame if he left and took his contribution with him.

That thread was just bumbling along, pretty insignificant in the WWW really, and Mark made errors in his comments -eg, thinking that no critic of THAT organization had the balls to confront the organization itself, which was plainly wrong to anyone who had read the whole thread...he originally admitted to not reading the whole thread -that is ALWAYS setting oneself up for a fall.

I do feel his reaction over-the-top, and, with a tinfoil hat on, I do wonder the real motivation to critique the thread and its posters, and leave WIX. Hearsay has it he is using his removal of contribution as a threat/blackmail/bargaining chip -I have no idea- but the situation is of his own making, he chose to go into that thread guns blazing, accusing people of not confronting THAT organization directly, when that is exactly what has been happening; critics of THAT organization are here because there is no peer-review on their site, you toe-the-line or get banned.

We all have our own view, sometimes I do wonder why there is a thread about a civilian Electra in a forum for military aircraft -although I guess David Billings East New Britain hypothesis has merit in that it could have been a military plane the Diggers found lol

Mark,

I for one will seriously miss your posts and should you ultimately decide to close the photobucket account I think WIX will be poorer for it.

Sadly I promised you some photos of the display about the XO of you father's unit here in Utah - shoot me a PM and I will make sure to send some pics in the near future.

I will miss your posts - fair winds and following seas!

Tom P.

Mark, I for one am sad to see you go. I completely understand your frustration - been there myself. That being said, I hope you'll reconsider. Your "google-fu" search skills are one of the reasons I check in on WIX every day.
