I'll be in Florida and making my first visit to Kermit Weeks Fantasy of Flight next Sunday. Does anyone want me to snap a pic of a particular aircraft for them when I'm there? Let me know. When I get back I'll post my shots on photobucket.

Apparently they have an "aircraft for the day" that is rolled out and flown. The folks at the museum tell me that sometimes if you visit on a weekend, Kermit might show up and take the Mustang up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Mk16 Spitfire!

If you go on the restoration tour, can you take a few shots of his N3N???? I chatted with him about it for a few min and I was about to hit the storage area tour. Thought the tour guide would show it to me real quick but it was a No go.

They also have the L-1 in restoration. Air Classics had a few pictures of it a year or so ago. I would love to see how its doing.

Could you get shots of the P-40? Didnt get to see it last time.

Fade to Black...

I'd like to see a couple of detailed shots of the wing fold area on each wing of the F4U-4 on display in the "simulator room". The wings cannot be unfolded due to damage received following the hurricane in 1992, but I failed to inspect the bits in the wing fold to see if there is any obvious damage to the visible attachment points or locking pin mechanism.

This may not be possible to photograph, but supposedly Kermit has Earl Reinert's A-26, 44-35590 dismantled there - it was black with "Nightmare" on the nose and yellow cowl rings and rudder. If you can find it I'd like to see a photo - or at least find out if he still has it. Thanks!

It's still there...I saw it a couple weeks ago at the NWOC night. It's in one of his storage hangars without wings on. Looks to be in decent shape but will obviously need TLC prior to flying.

Any chance of a picture of his Lancaster please CH2T? I know he's got one but I have never seen any recent pictures of it. (It may not eaven be there). Enjoy your visit.

OK, I've got the list in my camera bag.

Too bad about that Lancaster being in containers, I imagine that is a long term project like his B-29.
I wonder if that Lanc is a contender for being the next airworthy one??

Hey Rob,

The -4 wing fold areas were in good shape when we assembled the -4 in the sim room. There was wing tip damage that was fixed cosmetically, and the left wing fold cylinder attach point had damage. There was no damage to the wing hinge areas, downlock areas, etc. We hydraulically folded the right wing, and manually folded the left one, then installed the jury struts. When I last saw the aircraft, the wings could be spread if needed.
