This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

It's not returning to "Ruff Stuff".

As Dan mentioned, they are permanent - the whole aircraft was repainted, and those with a keen eye will note that the new OD/grey is different and more accurate in appearance than the OD/grey the aircraft wore beforehand when painted as "Ruff Stuff". The aircraft was painted as "Ruff Stuff" for 7 years, and now it is in its next phase of life as "Scat III". As Evan Fagen mentioned, with a good number of P-38's under restoration to fly right now, they wanted to get the aircraft painted as "Scat III" before someone else beat them to it. In many models/paintings "Scat III" is depicted in full invasion stripes, but they were left off in the permanent markings applied (which I like much better). It leaves the possibility that we might see some temporary, brushed-on, water-soluble invasion stripes added at some point in the future, such as at a future D-Day commemoration event, as has been done by Texas Flying Legends/Aircorps Aviation in recent years, as well as what was done with several of the Spitfires in Britain last year.

Very nice! I got almost the same shot of the F-100 take off with a 12 MP Pentax K-50 and a 500 mm Sigma lens, but the clarity is definitely not there:

May even be the same landing light in the foreground. Guess it could be less than perfect panning on my part as well.

I've been attending for the last 38 years or so, at least a couple of days during the week. this is the first year i didn't attend at all due my wife's falling and tearing ligaments. you all have ME to thank for the fantastic weather and record turnouts. Thanks for posting all the great pic's so i could at least be there in spirit. having known garbs since high school, i can attest that he really tries hard to get the back of someones head in what would otherwise be a great shot.

Seems like at least ONE more vintage jet was missing from the list: Rich Sugden's FJ-4B Fury (was surprised it wouldn't have been there since it seems to be a perennial). This photo from "AirShowStuff" on Facebook is the first one I have seen showing the Fury in it:

Thanks for highlighting my strong suit, old friend...

Here's a couple others I haven't seen posted yet - remember the 108 skydivers?

And sunset over Fightertown

Thanks! In retrospect, I should have sawed down those two telephone poles...
And yes, my list was not all inclusive... not sure if anyone pointed out my omission of the T-37 Tweet and the two Siai Marchetti S211's. If desired I can summarize all 350 registered warbirds here.

I heard someone tell their kid that an L-39 was a MiG-23. That made my day!
