Also noticed there is no more mention of the EA-6B that was supposed to be on static. Did it cancel as well?? of and P-51 Aint Misbehavin is also off the lsit. I fell like there is still a lot not listed, or a lot of planes have canceled

The EA-6B Prowler from Cherry Point, NC will NOT be coming. Tom Walsh mentioned on Facebook that the Squadron's request to attend the show was turned down by higher headquarters. No real big surprise there unfortunately.

The EA-6B cancelled four or five weeks ago. The Squadron was willing, but the Wing said no. The GAF C-160D is coming, otherwise, they would have notified me. That has not happened. As to the rest, when the organizers are travelling at two hundred miles an hour, with one foot nailed to the floor, with their hair on fire, hours before the show, well errors and mistakes do happen. They don't have time to correct things like this with so little time left before the show. Believe me I know, 30 years in the business. They have a great lineup and I'm sure there will be enough variety on the ramp and in the air to please the most diehard enthusiast.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

I can imagine. Having been involved with the organisation of a few shows, its a moving goal post and it just keeps getting farther away! It's too bad about the EA-6B, I haven't seen one of those in a LONG many years.

This show is turning out to be one of the better ones (nothing beats the 8 B-17's!!) and I have all the admiration in the world for what you guys do setting up such a world class event!!

Sean - If you can possibly put MCAS Cherry Point, NC (May 2016) on your long range plans for air shows next year, that may be your best chance to see EA-6B Prowlers. I was at the every other year show there in May 2014 and it was a good one including having the EA-6B fly in the show. Hopefully Prowlers will make some other shows before planned final retirement by the Marines in 2019, but tentative shows at Cherry Point in 2016 and 2018 may be the last good chances to see these unique military aircraft.

The 2016 show WAS on my long term plan with a road trip down the east coast hitting about 14 museums and this show, but other plans got in the way..and it is not going to happen next year..maybe 2018.

The Fighter Factory Facebook made the statement that it will take the JU52, (CASA352), 6 hours to make the trip.
I imagine that the other 3 planes can give it a 3 hour head start and all land about the same time. Great choice for a
4th plane as it can carry all the related personal items from everyone flying there, plus any items for sale. Had seen it this May at Va. Beach and it jumps into the air with those big wings and 3, R1340's. The Spit and FW190 never flew in May,
they fly when they are ready to fly. Seen the previous FW190 fly but not this one, has a new "Glass" cockpit and from the comments from the Facebook, the pilot loves the way it handles. I'll be there .

Anyone know when the Angels are set to fly in/practice ?

Sorry to hear about the E-6 cancellation, military aircraft at most shows are getting about as rare as hens teeth these days.

Notice the timing of the announcement of the ME262 getting pulled? I wouldn't be surprised if that Hawker Hunter crash in UK has something to do with this FAA knee jerk reaction? I wouldn't be surprised if any jet warbirds now operating under experimental exhibition class are getting this had the F-100 been there this year too.

You know it's not. You've been commenting the last couple pages back when the 262 was pulled....weeks before the Hawker Hunter crash! :|

I just found out like 3-4 days ago about ME262, I thought it was recent sorry.

My other heartbreak is that the CF-18 demo at Cleveland has been canceled, the other show I am attending while I am up here. Now I see that the EA-6 canceled. I didn't want to hold my breath on that ME262 since this is the 3rd time it has canceled TOM. Seems like every year the planes I want to see most cancel (last year the C-46 and the PB4Y), previous year the ME262 and the Mossie. As long as the PB4Y, Mossie, FW190 come

Typically around 1-2pm on Friday for practice, I think they fly in tomorrow. Thursday they might go up to set their "markers" They booted us off of Ecorse in 2011 around 1pm, but let us return around 4pm - during that time there are no warbird arrivals.

Thunder usually adds last second surprises. I don't recall the Berlin C-54 being on the list last year and I sat out all Friday spotting arrivals, I went to the show Sunday and it goes up.

No weather issues between now and Friday it seems across most of the USA. Tropical Storm Erica getting close to the east coast on Sunday - any warbirds on the east coast are welcome to park their planes at Thunder Over Michigan to evacuate the Hurricane :supz:

Yeah, the Ecorse boot is a sure thing, not many good options off base to view the aircraft with all the trees around.
Used to have a good spot off Rawsonville, haven't been back there is quite some time. Plan on watching from Ecorse FRI then attending the show SAT maybe SUN too. Will likely hang on the approach until booted, then head west of Tyler where they make everyone go.

They did not boot anyone off Encore across from R23 last year most likely due to the new show "center". We were there from 12pm thru the T-Birds practice and beyond. Determining factor will be if they go back to the real show center this year. Stupid garbage pile!

I was there, they completely cleared out Ecorse between Beck & Tyler roads from about half an hour before Tbird takeoff until half an hour after landing, they always do that.
They don't literally allow no one anywhere on Ecorse road, just a certain stretch of it - With the best vantage point of course.

Not sure where R23 goes, am still baffled by the runway structure there, I'm guessing it must be west of Tyler, about where I ended up.

They must not like u then. Ecorse Service Rd. Been there about 7yrs in a row and only once did the police ask us to leave before the Blues and that was the year Rider buzzed us all during his practice demo.

This should clear things up.

When the Blues or Angels fly, Ecorse road is closed off to all traffic and people between Beck and Denton [not Tyler] roads. Has been like that for the past 10 years at least, and will always be. Service, yes of course, that is where everyone ends up going.
