Goshen Indiana Freedom Festival Fly IN And Thunder Run

On September 6, 2015 at the Goshen Indiana Airport a very unusual event is going to happen. The BEST of Classic Car World is joining with Historic Aircraft to have an afternoon of fun like we have never seen before. The Event is known as the Goshen Freedom Festival Fly IN and Duesenberg Thunder Run. This event is jointly sponsored by the Goshen Freedom Festival and Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Club.
So what is going to happen? Goshen Airport is going to be open for aircraft arrivals to "Fly IN" until 12:00 noon. From 12:00 noon until 5:30pm a combined airshow and vintage exhibition of Duesenberg automobiles speeding down the runway against eachother will provide for a very interesting afternoon. After the show, the Goshen Airport will reopen for aircraft to return home.
So who is coming to the Goshen Freedom Festival and Duesenberg Thunder Run? B-17 "Yankee Lady" will be arriving Saturday Sept 5th from Willow Run and will be performing and taking rides on Saturday and Sunday. Also, the Port Clinton Ohio Ford TriMotor will be there for 4 days of Labor Day Weekend also taking rides. Hot Air Baloons will be there doing a "Glow" early on Sunday morning. Then around 12:30pm the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club will arrive with "ALOT" of Million Dollar Dusenebergs who will Speed Down Goshen's Runway againt eachother in several "Heats" which will provide for an exciting afternoon. The Chevy Jet Truck will also be there shooting down the runway with a ball of fire. Several vintage aircraft will also be in attendance and placed in a special parking area.
So what is missing? YOU and YOUR Family. The Goshen Freedom Festival and Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club would like to invite you to come for an Afternoon of FUN. If you have a Vintage or Warbird Aircraft, we would appreciate you attending and displaying your aircraft in a special area. If you have a general avation or experimental aircraft we would also like you to come and you will have a place to park also. If you do not have an aircraft, jump in your car and bring your family to this fun event.

Hmmm...I may have to check this one out. I've been hoping to get a ride in the Liberty Air Museum's "New" Ford Tri-Motor.

The gates open at 10am for drive in traffic. Admission is inly S10 for adults. Fky In Traffic needs to be on the ground no later than 1:00 pm.

Great photos of the cars.
I saw the "Mormon Meteor" (post #6, the yellow roadster) at the 2011 centennial of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
I was there for the Stutz Club meet and was in a IMS golf cart to go back to my car hauler. Suddenly on the infield golf cart track, I heard a thunder and there it was...the speed record custom Duesenberg.

It was a thrill to see and hear it. It was a bit of a surprise, a bit like turning the corner at an airport and seeing a B-17 or Mustang.
