I don't subscribe, but I guess the latest "Air Classics" has a bunch of the first air-to-air photos of the aircraft. And it was reported that, to finish off the restoration, a newly-crafted "Tokyo" tank will be installed (if it hasn't already by now) to extend the aircraft's range.

With the Wings Over Houston airshow coming up, I wonder if there is any chance for a first public appearance? If Rod Lewis' collection were to be operated more in a similar manner to a collection such as the Texas Flying Legends, it would be wonderful to see a formation flight/display consisting of the Lewis A-20G, P-40C, P-38F, P-39Q, and F4F-3, representing such an incredibly rare selection from, namely, the early years in the Pacific.

Does the P-39 fly? I've not seen any reports of it appearing at events since he acquired it from TFC

Mike, you're correct, the P-39 hasn't been seen at any public events since coming to the US - though there are photos on the Lewis Air Legends website of it flying from the El Jardin Ranch strip. On another forum, a couple years back, it was mentioned that the engine was overhauled after it came back to the US (an issue was found with the main engine bearings being too tight), and that since that engine overhaul it should be flying good and well these days, if it does. A few years back, it was tentatively scheduled for EAA Oshkosh, but it was later removed/replaced with another Lewis aircraft. Unless a belly tank is fitted, the '39 doesn't have very long legs.

Wonder what ever happen to that A20 junker David Tallichet had stored beside his hangar (behind a chain link fence) at Chino airport which is if I member right next to Aero Trader hanger. His other one is in NY State.

The AC story makes it sound like there might be enough A-20 parts extant to piece at least one more together--if anyone would want to finance such a project.

From what the registry shows, it appears that the fuselage that was seen in the Tallichet/MARC lot at Chino has since gone to Pima. It has been said that the very complete MARC A-20 at Geneseo could be made airworthy with enough of an investment. Aero Trader has Kermit Weeks' A-20 in storage, which is the Howard Hughes example - as with all of Weeks' aircraft, the intention of course is to have it eventually restored to fly. GossHawk has the significant remains of a wrecked example that was pulled out of Cananda a few years back, which has remained available to any potential buyers for restoration.
