It's not really an update, but another 'news story' being hawked as fact is just someone saying he believes it due to a 'deathbed confession' from a person whom nobody will name.
This whole took a left turn at crazy a long time ago and is heading into territory usually reserved for publications like, "Mad Magazine" and "The Onion".
I can't believe anyone is taking this seriously at this point. Right now, it's not even good enough to be called an urban legend!

I bet when they find that train there will be a bunch of Spitfires in crates in the tunnel as well. :axe:

The train itself apparently was found today, this photo proves it!

Better still, they found a dramatic color shot taken in 1944:

The Brits knew about it for years and have written at least one book on the subject:

Seriously, on the radio this morning, I heard part of an interview with a woman from the local historical society there. She laughed at the idea, saying she's heard the stories all her life but that she thinks it's all nonsense.
They are, however, very worried that someone might get hit by a train as there's a spot rumored to be the place these guys are talking about, very close to a busy active main line...

The armoured train was carrying crates of Burmese Spitfires that had come overland from a secret burial spot in Rangoon... geek

I'll be the one... what if it is true? What a great discovery that would be, wouldn't it? A archeological gold mine, no pun intended. While I too look at TIGHAR's results as highly questionable at best, I still wonder in the back of my mind, what if they do find something more substantial? But I subscribe to the Earhart on Saipan theory more myself.

I can't for the life if me see how any intelligent person could be falling for this!
Seriously? THIS is the 'proof' they're now talking about?
Image
Could be anything, could be doors with stuff around them in a tunnel. Could be someone's sewer system for crying out loud.
This is like those people who badly want to believe in Bigfoot and will point to a blurry video, to a spot you can't recognize anything but more trees, and declare, "There, that's clearly Bigfoot"...
Puh-lease. Until someone busts out a shovel, digs up the area, then has something to show for it, I'll call BS on it because it certainly isn't "confirmed", nor "found"!

We'll finally get to the truth about Amelia Earhart!

The Japanese picked her up off the island (leaving her freckle cream and shoes) and traded her to the Nazis for a shipment of Fw-190s and two hostages to be named later.

Rumor has it the TIGHAR is on the way with a team of tunnel experts (from having watched The Great Escape)...and will be monitoring the situation from a Paris 4-star hotel.

Y'know, now that I look at that radar image, I'm starting see what might be the outline of Amelia herself!
