Hello,
it looks like I may visit Texas next november and I was thinking to expand it a little to visit some sites
with vintage propliners or warbirds.
But he 'season' may be gone and I would hate to drive miles to end up with a closed facility.
Roughly I was considering the flwng locations, info on closed or open all season welcomed
Central Texas Air Wing @San Marcos
Texas Air Museum @Stinson Mun'l Airport (nr San Antonio)
Hondo Army Airfield Museum (W of San Antonio)
CAF at Midland
CAF Desert Sqdn at Odessa
Air Museum at Bog Spring (su + mo closed asper website)
Cavanaugh Flight Museum
Addison: warbird rides still posbl???

Otherwise suggestions welcomed, for consideration if the above are not possible.
Thks for yr help,
Rudi

Rudi,

When you're in the D/FW area, come see us at Vintage Flying Museum, Meacham Airport, Fort Worth! We're open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all year 'round. Let me know when you're coming and I'll make it a point to be there to meet you.

Also at Meacham Airport, visit our friends at the Fort Worth Aviation Museum. They have a very nice collection of aircraft on display, mostly jets from the Cold War era to the present. Nice folks down there and well worth your time.

A little further south of D/FW is Lancaster Airport, home to the CAF DFW Wing and the Cold War Air Museum. There's some cool stuff to see at Lancaster, too!

Cavanaugh Flight Museum has a very active and varied ride program: Stearman, Texan, Mustang, Corsair, Skyraider, Bell 47, et al.

Very little closes in Texas during the winter. Our climate is at it's best in the late fall and early spring, but winter really isn't too bad.

There is no Hondo Army Airfield Museum except in the minds of a few misguided individuals!

Rudi,

The CAF High Sky Wing (HSW) in Midland has taken over the majority of the former CAF HQ facilities. The AAHM Museum and HQ building will be going back to the city of Midland. The HSW is in the process of creating the Midland Army Air Field Museum which will be located in the Main Hangar of the HSW operated campus. We are aiming for a grand opening of February 6, 2016. If you are in the Midland/Odessa area the HSW folks are around the campus on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and most of the day on Saturday's. We would have no problem letting anyone who is interested in coming by during those times to have a look around.
