This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Those aircraft look really nice. I'd like to see the P-39 purchased by the Kalamazoo Air Museum and then they sell their "airworthy when parked " P-39 to a collector. Maybe it could return to flight status under new ownership.

I like the way you think. Have it restored back to this configuration, then sell it to the Collings Foundation and fly it across the country on the national tour.

Would be awesome to see it back in its proper colors again.

I had my comments pulled on the Corsair eating the Zero because hey we're unkind towards the pilot of the Corsair. I grew up in the war bid community. Remember when all the Kalamazoo aircraft were flown regularly and the Parrish's allowed others to fly them. They had several accidents, a (few of them Sue)
That's why they decided to park them all and now no one gets to hear them roar or attend eir local airshow. No more lucky guys getting to fly or ride in them.
Bob Pond and the EAA museums also let people fly, ride and attend air shows in them. So yes the FAA says it's the pilot In Commands responsibility for the condition and safety of the aircraft. I fly 30 and 40 year old corporate jets. So I feel it is the pilot's fiduciary responsibility to protect and preserve the owner's asset.

I visited the Classic Jets Fighter Museum back in Feb 20166, met the owner and was lucky i guess to see it all together at that time.
Ive put some bids in on items and see what happens......
Sad to see the collection having to be broken up after all these years.
I see the catalogue says the CAC Sabre has been sold already.

Anybody know anything about the Corsair. The Barnstormers ad says "F4U-1 Corsair project with provenance", the museum's web site doesn't mention if it's being built to static or flying condition. From the photos on the site it kind of looks like it might only be a static replica using very little actual Corsair parts. Any thoughts?

The museum has one Corsair project so far under rebuild - the near completed F4U - static setup which i inspected.
The catalogue on the museum collection up for sale states the other Corsair remains that the museum has are up for sale.
I would guess they are static at the timeframe based on the photos of the parts unless someone reuses them towards a rebuild?

Interesting that the aft fuselage interior color is the salmon color and the cockpit interior color seems to be the same intermediate blue as the exterior, with one internal web/stiffener chromate green (just below the armor plate).

Personal matters. Out of respect for Robert, that's all that should be said.
