Not so far fetched either, when you consider this quote from Wayne Coulson:
"Based on the fact no government has any interest whatsoever in the aircraft fighting fire, we have decided to take the Mars to the Oshkosh Air Show in late July in hopes of finding another business or home for it"

I think the Dornier was involved in a major landing crash last year. Somewhere in Asia. Not the Seastar but the other older flying boat design.

There was a video going around of it spinning on touchdown. Not quite a ground loop, water loop? I believe they ferried it back to its home base for repair.
