Not so far fetched either, when you consider this quote from Wayne Coulson:

I think the Dornier was involved in a major landing crash last year. Somewhere in Asia. Not the Seastar but the other older flying boat design.

There was a video going around of it spinning on touchdown. Not quite a ground loop, water loop? I believe they ferried it back to its home base for repair.
