Sadly when the F-84C, F-86H, T-33, and F-101 were removed from the airpark in 2013 only the F-84C and F-86H found homes. The T-33 was sent to the range and the F-101 was scrapped.

Was the T-33 s/n 58-503?
And which F-101? I've seen two listed as preserved there - F-101A 53-2426 and RF-101C 56-0187.

VERY nice restoration on one of my favorite early jets! I'd sure love to see one flying some day, but, sadly, there's not much chance of that.

If I may add my two cents' worth... Thunderjets just cry out for colorful unit markings. They all had 'em back then.

A bit off topic, but I was curious if the restoration hangar that is being used today is the same one that was being used for restorations when Castle Air Force Base was still in operation?

Yup, the very same! Hangar 51 is still in use for restoration and 47 for storage. Restoration is in the same hangar as it was when the museum was conceived.

Yeah, they were all colorful, and I absolutely love painting bright, colorful livery. When it came to us, it had a colorful, but absolutely made up paint scheme. Our Curator, and our paint staff are to say the least "anal" about historical accuracy. What they were is what they are displayed as. This was the livery it wore when it retired.

It was a very fun project, and it will display wonderfully next to our F-84F (which is quite colorful!)
