Condolences to friends/family of the passenger and best wishes to Mr. Hammond's recovery.

During my last visit to the UK a mutual friend took me to Hammond's private strip and I had a chance to meet him and see this Mustang up close (he has second one he restored from the ground up).
He's a talented restorer and first rate pilot.

I was impressed, to qualify for flying the Mustang, he bought a Stearman, then a T-6, stepping up to the Mustang like wartime pilots. He as also had a 172 as a family aircraft.

His strip in Norfolk was part of a 2nd AD B-24 base. He had a corner of his hangar fitted out as a typical crew dorm tissue furniture and uniforms hanging and wartime decor. Best of all, a painted "window" replicated the view that a real window would have had of that location including a Liberator in the distance.

In short, Mr. Hammond is the real deal and a great guy.
I hope he has a speedy recovery.
