He's been flying performancer aircraft for many years, namely his Pitts Special. He's apparently no newcomer to aviation. In one interview he made note of how he would have his planes ferried to wherever in the world he was making movies at the time so he could keep his chops up. My guess is that he's been working his way up to the P-51 for some time. It's his plane BTW.

He has an interview with Dianne Sawyer tomorrow night on ABC. Promos show that it was shot in the hangar in front of the Mustang.

AFAIK it is his. He was the owner of this P-51 http://www.warbirdregistry.org/p51regis ... 12840.html
I don't know if he changed P-51's but for now I'm assuming that this one was the former Montana Miss.

Anybody know for certain?

It's the same Mustang just renamed. When you play the video posted in this thread you can clearly see the W LG markings and just make out the tail registration.

Good for him!!!!.................what I really want to know though, has he asked to buzz the flight line? or has he shouted out on the mic......."wooohoooo, Jesters dead"??? talk to me goose?

I just want to know what's up with "that religion" and the number of exceedingly cool planes their membership seems to own.

I'm fairly open about religious practices, but if it means me landing my own Connie or Mustang then........Hail Xenu! Check my thetan count and gimme my multi engine rating!

the scientology thing is out their most definetely, but being jewish i'm not going to pass judgement coming from a religion that has been equally scrutinized. i'm as religious as an earth worm & choose to keep it that way, as that identity only reflects the way i was raised. however.... i do find it strange that travolta is purported to be of the same belief as cruise!!! 2 top notch hollywood stars w/ major flying / warbird credentials???

Think what you will about the guy...but that quote puts him right in "the club" if you ask me. The club of warbird lunatics that we're all members of.

I wonder if he's a lurker here at WIX ? Tom, are you out there ?

Does he need to sit on a pillow to see out of the front window?

ahhhh a Pitts and a P-51, a nearly perfect hangar! Just add a Corsair and your all set. That might resemble a scene when you poke your head inside a certain hangar in Fargo.

How many owners have a currently-flying combo of P-51 and F4U (FG)? I can think of a few - Read, Oddegard, PoF, Cavanaugh, Fighter Collection, CAF,Pond, Fighter Factory.....I know I'm probably missing a few?

Good enough for me ... cuz one day he's gonna want a PAINTING of his kite!

Don't laugh, a very good friend of mine has as a client a multi-Academy Award-winning Hollywood type who is also nuts about planes. Sold him about 8 paintings so far.

And no, I can't tell who it is - he chooses to remain private, and truth be told, I shouldn't know!
