I like Phantoms, I like them very very much. Regrettably I have never seen one fly.

Am very much hoping that the two ex RAAF service aircraft (69-7212 & 69-7216) that reportably still exist at AMARG can find homes in museums here in Australia.... there has been recent talk in the media but haven't heard anything since?

The part I don't get is why they didn't shoot down the last F-4s? What else would they do with more than a few Phantoms? They're not going to make gate guards out of them, I assume?

I have a feeling there'll be some movements to new locations or perhaps one last missile test, otherwise flying the drones back there and shutting them down for good (especially so far from AMARC where the others are stored) makes no sense to me. It's not like they're going to be needed elsewhere, so why not make the actual last flight a missile test?
I just hope they preserve the very last Phantom to fly for the USAF, whichever one that actually was.
