Lets go back to 1961, when Sunderland flying boats were still flying in the Pacific with the Royal New Zealand Air Force 5 SQN in Fiji.

A mixed film in colour showing the flying boats on ground and in the air just before they were retired from active service.

I was in Suva, Fiji in mid-December 1964 and was pleasantly surprised when a RNZAF Sunderland flew low over the town. A beautiful sight indeed!!

A guy who was my fleet manager on the F27 in the mid 90s in the UK, used to be a skipper on the Sunderland at about that time. Nice guy, John Thompson.
