Only two zeros flew. I didn't see the third.

The third zero was on the static display line next to the FW-190 at the extreme far east end where the 2 F-35's were parked. That Zero didn't fly as the pilot is just now checking out in the aircraft and has limited experience in it. I don't know if POF asked if one of their people could fly it in the airshow. It would have been neat to see 3 Zero's in the air like they had a few years ago.

Ahh, the world fastest Skyraider, Jay Cullum's old ride. Thank you for the info...

Lynn

What's the joke here?

To build off of Lynn Allen's reply, he is right...it is off one of the Skyfire videos. In 1985 Jimmie McMillain raced his #404 Skyraider. In 1986 Jay Cullum raced his. For the 1987 Skyfire video, they interview McMillian and Cullum together...and they are asked about one of the racers (I think it was Tsunami) and whether they are jealous. McMillian starts off with "As the World's FIRST racing Skyraider....", and then Jay counters with "Yeah, well as the Worlds FASTEST Skyraider, I...." Jay says he's going to come back the following year to challenge all comers and threatens to clip the wings on 409, to which Jimmie says "I'll put a -4360 in mine".

It's actually a pretty funny clip.

My first year going, it is the best airshow ever!

Here's a couple photos I was able to process while I was still out there. More coming tonight!

Nice puddle thanks to the rain Saturday night.

B-25 photo bombing!

P-38 during the Saturday European flight. Chris Fahey at the controls.
Image

Jason Somes in the CAF SoCal Mk XIV at the end of one of his passes, easily some of the best passes I have ever seen.
Image

Korean War flight, awesome opening pass.
Image

Stew Dawson; Saturday opening pass for his aerobatic demo!
Image

Steve Hinton during his Corsair demo.
Image

Hard to pick THE highlight, but seeing this being flown like a fighter was just incredible!

Connor, thank you for the photos. Does anyone know if you can buy the t-shirts and decals from the show on line?

I would call their gift shop as their web site has not been updated. I am sure they have plenty left over from the show.

The neatest thing I got was a poster of the artwork from the program by Romain Hugault. He was there signing autographs and selling his latest graphic novel. If you purchased the novel, you got a free drawing on the inside cover. He did a P-40 on mine, but others got pilots and pin ups. I honestly wanted a pin up.

Maybe the gift shop still has some of those.

Thank you, that is what I had in mind as I'm waiting for the time zone...

So...can anyone tell us after all the drama...was Yanks open during the show? Were the employees and friends of Flying Tigers an their ramp enjoying the show?

They were not open to my knowledge, or at least their back gate was closed both days as we walked by after the show. Saturday there were some people there with a hangar door open, clearing having (or had had) a BBQ while watching the show.

What about Aero Trader (and the boneyard behind it) - did they have the doors open this time?
And Connor - great images; you can tell which pilots needed a shave!

Every time I went by Aero Trader they had the doors closed, but they may have had them "cracked" a bit, but if they did, I didn't see it.
