Numerous warbirds supposedly taking part in the airshow shortly, for up to an hour this afternoon. Looking at some of the video coverage taking place right now, the Tigercats, Bearcat, Corsairs, Skyraiders, C-47's, B-17 Yankee Lady, and more are all cranking over. The B-29 "Doc" is staged to fly as well.

No promises, but today's list in the fighters category includes 3 Spads, Moonbeam and Red Tail, and the AU-1. Dakotas will fly again as will the bombers and a healthy contingent of Jets.

Update - Tigercats are on for today.

Had just exited Friday night’s WOA Squadron 32 BBQ (WIXfest reincarnated!) and found Kevin W. on scaffolding painting away...pic posting will have to wait a bit though.

Special kudos to Jenn B. for another round of her mesmerizing pulled pork & chicken...always fun returning to Wisconsin for serious carb-loading!

Neither are airworthy.

The Creve Coeur one flew for a couple of years but has been parked for a decade now.

The 'Friends of Jenny' example at Oshkosh has yet to fly

Kermit also had two underway (a mailplanes and a bomber) but I believe the project was abandoned when issues with the build quality were discovered.

For those that may overlooked my post earlier, the Vintage Aviator collection in New Zealand has a very WWI-era accurate DH-4 that has been flying since 2016, which also runs a Liberty V-12 engine. Both the Vintage Aviator and the Friends of Jenny DH-4's are painted in the same 50th Observation Aero Squadron markings, but with different individual aircraft numbers. Neither are airworthy.

The Creve Coeur one flew for a couple of years but has been parked for a decade now.

The 'Friends of Jenny' has yet to fly.

But both are airworthy, or in the case on the "new" one, will be once signed off.

There are plenty of airworthy aircraft in museums that don't fly.
Then there are some like Week's mosquito and Shorts that were airworthy when delivered, but are likely not now.

In the case of the Creve Coeur example, I believe it is properly stored and its engine inhibited. That means it's still airwothy.

I don't think there are many things more depressing then the Sunday webcams....just looks so empty and bare up there.

I blocked off vacation time to stay on Sunday, but it was obvious on Saturday that there was not going to much left to stick around for. Pictures incoming after I get settled in and they get sorted.

Yes - it was not counted in the total. Neither was the Varga Kachina.

Equally stunning in my unqualified opinion - all the more so because it flew. Would be interesting to know what the point difference was. I heard an interesting suggestion from another Wixer - what if, in addition to the difficulty points, they added a few "activity" points for any plane that actually took part in the Warbird airshows?

I am starting to go through my pics. As a Canadian, I always keep an eye out for DHC rodents, and while I usually miss a Chipmunk or two hiding in the vintage camping section and some Beavers at the seaplane base, here's what I did see.

DHC-1 Chipmunk. T.10 WD345, N5UK.



DHC-1 Chipmunk T.10 WP797, N31376.



DHC-1 Chipmunk T.10 WP833, N833WP.



DHC-1 Chipmunk T.1 18010, N26JH. But I have read some things indicated that this is really a British-built Mk.22 that has been restored in Canadian configuration.



DHC-1 Chipmunk Mk.20 P-126. I overhead the owner tell a couple of visitors that the Portugese Chipmunks are the lowest-time and best to own.



DHC-2 Beaver N191K. Owned by the U.S. Forestry Service (since it was new in 1956!) and displayed at the federal pavilion.



Mike Potter's beautiful DHC-2 Beaver C-GUPM, which took silver in the seaplane judging.



DHC-2 Beaver on steroids N94DN.



DHC-6 Twin Otter N40269, the "Freefall Express," is no pampered showplane. Not too hard to guess what its occupation is.
