The Flying Dutchman Foundation (see http://www.flyingdutchmanfoundation.nl/en/) is working on getting the ex-PH-DDS back in the air and to The Netherlands. It is currently in South Africa after moving there in 2000 but the aircraft hasn't flown for several years.

Does this count?

That would be awesome to see that back in the air again. The ex Ansett one in South Africa has it's engines run and I believe that it is near airworthy.

Maybe not a DC4, but Everts still flys DC-6s and C46s. So some old recip prop planes still work.

I'm quite surprised there wasn't sufficient knowledge on this site to answer a fairly basic question on airworthy survivors.

Does anybody have a different forum they might recommend for prop liners?

Thanks,

Mick

- N3054V (Alaska Air Fuel)
- N460WA (Florida Air Transport)
- ZS-BMH (South African Airways Historic Flight)
- ZS-AUB (South African Airways Historic Flight)

Ones that I know used to be operational in modern years, but haven't been flown in a while, include:

- C-GCTF (Buffalo Airways - for sale)
- C-FIQM (Buffalo Airways - for sale)
- C-GBNV (Buffalo Airways - for sale)

- N438NA (Brooks Air Fuel - registration canceled)

I haven't seen/heard anything on N55CW lately, which is based in Florida at Key Stone Heights.

There are 2.

C-54D N500EJ (Former N9015Q), Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation It is the replacement for the tornado ravaged 44-9144

C-54E 44-9133 Florida Air Transport.

Others have flown fairly recently (N55CW), but that was to its new permanent home, and not without difficulty.

Alaska Air Fuel's fleet are both down.
SAAHF hasnt flown Theirs in many years.

The previous last post in this thread was from nearly seven years ago, hence the out-of-date info. I have however continued to update my stickied thread at the top of this forum, which has the correct information at this time with regard to currently flying DC-4's: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=65826

Good. Thanks for that. Also take note that C-54D 43-17228 N9015Q has been reregistered N500EJ (as 44-9144 was before the tornado)
