Wow, that looks great!
I did catch his personal P-51 in the trailer, didn't I?

I don't know if it was him in his P-51 or not at about 1:30 as it was a very quick scene. Maybe someday we will hear from someone who helped in the making.

Trailer looks incredible. Well Done.

I heard it was TC's P-51 - flown by him and Steven Hinton.

After seeing the F-14 at the end and some behind he scenes photos on youtube I wonder if he gets shot down and steals an F-14 from maybe Iran. Just wild speculation.
The behind the scenes clip. Anyone recognize the F-14 markings in this clip?

Just like they do with the Star Wars movies. Announcement more than a year in advance.
So will the F-14 footage be cgi, stock, or leftover from 1986?

Most definitely a P-51. It has invasion stripes on the underside of the wings.
I'm a little mystified about this trailer. I thought I recall past trailers showing an F-35 focus and Maverick - inexplicably - in a Marine uniform. This trailer seems to be all F-18. Has the script been changed a trifle?
I wonder if that was TC in the backseat of a 2 seater F-18 taking off from a carrier...or if it was CGI.
So far, from the trailer, I like Ed Harris' character

I'd say that on the basis of this trailer it look pretty good.

Standard fare for any "big release" anymore. Also, this week is SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) and so the trailer release is part of that. Kinda like software developers will announce the next 18 months of releases at E3. It gets the hype train rolling and shows the investors that they have a strong slate of products coming in.

Extremely disappointing the trailer did not play any Kenny Loggins.

I am actually looking forwards to this, it is 1986 all over again!
The San Diego Air and Space Museum loaned them their F-14 for some shots at North Island, and from what I know, it is still there for some re-shoots. Sadly though, they made a bar for them to hang out in for the movie, but it was recently demolished.
I remember reading that production was being held up in the beginning due to them no being sure if the F-35 was going to come on line up here at Miramar while they made the movie, and possibly, making that bird the star of the flick. But, F-35's are still a rare sight around here. So Hornet it was!

Here's the old trailer I was talking about:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fi7G1s97wAF-35' and what looks to be switching back and forth from a Marine to Navy uniform.
Release date listed as 2019.
Ah but it's a fan-made trailer so that explains a lot of the discrepancies.
