"Twilight Zone" movie UH-1, after the crash?

Fri Oct 04, 2019 1:58 pm

Beats me why, but I started wondering what happened to the helicopter that crashed and killed Vic Morrow and two kids while making the “Twilight Zone” movie, after the crash and investigation: http://listverse-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Twilight-Zone-helicopter-crash.jpg
N87701 was its FAA number but I can’t find anything about what happened to it…
I couldn't find anything post-crash and the photo I found shows it might have been able to restore it (maybe even to flying condition), so does anyone have a clue what happened to it?

You may already know this, but the FAA shows a cancelled registration for N87701. It was registered to Associated Aerial Applicators in LaSalle, CO on 2/22/1989. The registration was cancelled on 4/12/1995 with the reason listed as 'Destroyed.'

I really doubt they hauled it off to a dump, as a museum would have been able to make a good static display out of it (even in its crashed configuration). I'd think it was around somewhere, but then again as it was at the center of a suit that ruined several people in Hollywood and killed a beloved (yet some say on the downhill side of a career that was never all that stellar) actor, not to mention two children, maybe they did make razor blades out of the thing...
