Pneumatic brakes don't always work when it gets really cold. The rubber bits get stiff, and the air finds places to leak.

Visibility in a Hurricane isn't that bad. You'd only taxi into another one if the brakes failed, or if it's pure ice.

I can envision either happening in Canada during the war years.

"Next Day" photos never show what it was actually like to be there.

The accident involved Hurricane Mk. I 1372 (colloquially "Battle Hurricane") (Cat C.) and Hurricane Mk. XII 5488 (Cat. B). Both of 128 (F) Squadron, the accident took place RCAF Sydney on January 30, 1943 at 12:15pm. Note the different props...Ham Standard on the Hurricane XII and a Battle prop on the "Battle Hurricane."
