Glad everyone's okay! Congratulations to the tanker pilots for safely executing what must have been a pretty scary off-airport landing. From the photos I saw on the "ol' inter-webs", it looked like the Herk's fuselage might have been broken just ahead of the wing. Would they repair an airplane that badly damaged, or just part it out?

The Marines may not have the funding to buy a new C-130J, but they may have the funding to repair that C-130J.

Glad everyone walked away.....that could have been tragic. Back in 2009 we had one of our USCG C-130H's and a USMC helo mid-air off Cali that didn't turn out well. I was in my CGHQ office when the boss walked in at 0400-ish and said we lost a C-130 earlier that night. It's a horrible feeling....I knew some of the aircrew and their family. In that mishap, the following investigation showed the USN ATC that was responsible for the air traffic in that area took the hit.
