This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

That's inflation for you. I'm pretty sure Kermit Weeks paid £100,000 for RS712 in 1981-ish.

I try not to be the one saying where aircraft should go, but would CWHM or VWC have the resources and desire to acquire the Mosquito?

desire....YES!!!
Resources and long term viability...questionable. Canada does not have the same market as the U.S. for warbirds and the distances are so vast that it is hard to get to more than a handful of large airshows.
It will be interesting to see where it ends up going.

Yes, but that’s $10m Canadian, so about $1,500 US

They say its $8mill to build so $10mill to sell so $2mill profit?

No
Because this one wasn’t built from new, it was restored slowly over several decades using largely original material.

As a much younger kid prior to the internet, I remember this AC being connected to the Zaleski brothers in Canada. Possibly even Neil Rose who had a Hurricane.
It was up for sale just in a magazine ad with just the wooded airframe being worked on.
Even then I was salivating over it!

Here are some scans from way back in the December 1996 issue of "Warbirds International" magazine, Volume 15, Number 9, when the Mosquito was among a number of warbird projects that the Zaleskys were selling. (I was 9 at the time)
