Here are some photos my father took of
B-45A-5-NA, s/n 47-089, at Wiesbaden AB, West Germany circa 1953. She served with the 84th BS, 47th BW, RAF Sculthorpe, UK. She was withdrawn from operational use 13 May 1958 and sent to Etain AB, France for fire practice use.

That front end, overhead shot is very interesting-- a great angle that you don't appreciate when you look at one of these from the ground level. I have seen the one at the National Museum of the USAF... such an interesting airframe!

Two corrections: Both papers list two of the crewmen as Franklin Perry (not Parry) and Joe Silvey (not Silver).

Larry, thanks so much for taking the time to post sections of the flight manual. Very interesting.

While I see the need to have the ditching braces on the bomb bay doors (to prevent the doors from stoving in upon a water landing), I cant help but think that given the time to install these as part of the emergency checklist the crew would choose to eject (pilots) or bail out over taking the time to install the braces and ditch. Guess it would keep the crew together and access to the life raft.
