Re: 11/12/2022 - Texas Raiders and P-63 King Cobra collide

There were several comments in the docket about the P-51 and Me-262 at Wings Over Houston on Sunday, October 30, 2022... Does anyone here have footage that might enlighten those comments?

While I don't always agree with Gryder on things, this lawsuit is so rife with (objectively) problematic actions on the plaintiff's side, especially a certain paralegal who (on a recorded phone call) called herself a lawyer more than once, that I wouldn't be touting it as proof of much of anything. Especially considering that the judgement was entered despite a motion to vacate the ruling due to failure to serve the defendant. His lawyers filed to withdraw after the judge in the case basically said he didn't care that Gryder wasn't served properly since it basically showed the judge had made up his mind despite the initial hearing having occurred without Gryder or his attorneys present. There's also conflicting evidence in the record of the case that claims Gryder was present in the judgement hearing, but multiple people who were there said Gryder wasn't present and Gryder himself says he wasn't aware of the Aug. 13th hearing.

Since then, he's gotten new attorneys and they have filed several additional motions, including a notice of appeal, so this judgement likely won't stand because of the procedural errors made by both the plaintiff and the judge. Whether there's actually ever a hearing on whether his speech was protected or not is to be seen.

Not yet. I've looked at most of the currently posted videos on YouTube but most of them are obviously short clips of those particular passes. I'm sure the footage is out there somewhere...

For the benefit of those of us who haven't had the chance to read all 2000 pages of the docket yet, can someone give a quick summary of what was purported to have happened at WOH?

I'm working my way thru the material released recently. I have a long way to go on some of the Docket Items, but I have found some good info from the two I will mention below.

Instead of me trying to paraphrase what was said, I will give a couple places in the report to read that should answer most of not all questions.

Concerning the WoH show two weeks before:

Read Docket Item #13 Interviews with CAF Personnel, Pages 3-90 interview with John Cotten he was co pilot in C-47 in the bomber stream and explains what he saw on Sunday at WoH. He was also pilot or copilot in TR in both WoH and WoD during the Tora act and was flying the Helldivera t WoD.. I think I read somewhere there was something out of the ordinary on Saturday at WoH (maybe concerning the ME262) but I can't remember what it was or where I read it.

Fun and Sun organizers opinion of air bosses:

Read Docket Item #17, pages 1-5.

Thanks for that, I appreciate you giving me specific sections to read. Some of the themes in those interviews are consistent with comments I've heard firsthand from other performers and organizations involved in the airshow business.

I hope the airshow industry can learn from this, put proactive, protective measures in place and prevent it from ever happening again.

I read that interview and was intrigued at the opinion. Having sat in on one of "the father's" airshow briefings (albeit nearly 20 years ago now) I saw no joking and in fact was well advised that joking during the briefing was "verboten" and there was always the famous "throne of shame" for anyone who dared talk while the Boss was briefing.

While I don't doubt that his style may have changed over the years, I find odd that it would have changed that much.

Apparently the Me-262 was asked to fly on a reciprocal to the bomber formation, albeit at a different altitude. Does sound somewhat irresponsible if true.
